The test hardness value is that determined by the penetration depth of the indenter under the 1.812 lb (822 g) load.

This hardness tester is designed for measuring the shore hardness properties of hard rubber and thermoplastics materials by shore D test method, that is the resistance of a material to penetration of a spring-loaded needle-like indenter. The test hardness value is that determined by the penetration depth of the indenter under the 10 lb (4536 g) load.
